WELCOME TO SOUTH HILL (Photos courtesy of Lisa Clary) WELCOME TO SOUTH HILL and all it has to offer. Local Civic organizations in the community pooled their resources recently to install their signs featuring their logos, meeting times and locations to offer visitors to the area who may be members of these groups in other locations an opportunity to attend meetings in South Hill during their time in the area. The first sign is located on a spot of property donated by Greg Harper with Lorene Building Supply in South Hill and he took time out last week to meet with the groups for photographs as they offered their thanks for his support. The base for the sign was built by the talented crew at the town shop in South Hill. Organizations featured are The Shrine Club, The Ruritans, The Rotary, The Moose Lodge, American Legion and The Marine Corp League.
The American Legion is also one of the local organizations that have put a sign out to welcomed visitors. This sign project was joint effort over the past few months with a group of civic organizations who wanted to let visitors , who may be a member of one of the groups in another area, know that the organization is represented in South Hill and guests are welcome. Pictured are Commander Larry Smith Greg Harper who proved the sign location.
The Marine Corp League was on hand to thank Greg with Lorene for his support of the organizations who wished to display their sings at locations throughout town and this was the first location set up. Pictured are Greg Harper, Lee Nicholson, Donna Cunningham. Lee Cunningham and Wally Hudson.
Will Woodall (right) with The South Hill Moose Lodge thanked Greg Harper with Lorene Building Supply for his help in providing a site for the new Civic organizations sign leading into town from Lacrosse .
The South Hill Rotary Club spearheaded the effort for the civic organizations welcoming signs projects that now has the first signed placed at the entrance into town from Lacrosse just in front of Lorene Building Supply , who donated a spot for the sign to be placed. More signs will hopefully be placed at other entrances into town in the future, but the groups involved in the project are happy that their efforts have been supported and that at least one entrance can guide visitors to the organizations that are the heart and spirit of the community. Members of the Club are pictured with Greg Harper(front left) with Lorene Building Supply, who provided the site for the sign.
The South Hill Ruritan Club was one of the organizations providing a sign for the civic organizations welcome signs that are to be place at entrances to the town. The first was set up last week due to the generosity of Greg Harper at Lorene, who is providing a spot for the sign to be displayed. Harper ( third from right) is pictured with members of the Ruritan Club.
The South Hill Shrine Club is represented on the new signs that civic organization got together to get posted at entrances into the town of South Hill. The first location is near Lorene Building Supply on Highway 58 on a piece of property that Greg Harper with Lorene allocated for the sign.
