The survivors took the first lap of the night during the 13th annual Relay for Life in South Hill over the weekend. The event hoped to raise over $100,000 for the American Cancer Society and with funds still be collecting they are hopeful for that goal.
The Ladies Auxiliary to VFW Post 79 in South Hill donated $500 to Relay for Life over the weekend with Christine Tanner making the donation to Carolyn Carter at the 13th annual event in South Hill over the weekend.
The 13th annual American Cancer Society's Relay for life was held in South Hill over the weekend and event drew hundreds of people to Centennial Park. About a dozen teams participated in the overnight campout and over $100,000 was raised to help fight the disease. Robert and Dee McMillan served as honorary chairpersons this year as she has been in on going battle with cancer several times and relies on the strength of God and her family to see her through each day.
Boyd Honda of South Hill donated $2000 to Relay for Life over the weekend. Funds were raised through a big Memorial Day sale that allowed Boyd to pledge $100 for every vehicle sold during the holiday. Paula Tanner with Boyd happily presented the check to Carolyn Carter and reported that had sold 20 cars to make the donation.
THE BEAUTIES and Bows team that raised funds through the Miss Mecklenburg Pageant this year donated a check for over $11,500.00 to Carolyn Carter with Relay during the event Friday night in South Hill. Some of the pageant winners were on hand for the donation.
