The CMH Foundation held a Spring Fashion show at Brian’s over the weekend in South Hill,

with these lovely women modeling the latest spring and summer fashions from Julee’s in South Hill

courtesy of owners Judy Cleaton and Gavin Honeycutt. The new styles have just arrived and

they carry everything from petite to Today’s Woman sizes.  Stop by for spring

specials today.  Proceeds from the event will go to the CMH Foundation.

The Alzheimer's Association Memory Walk 2008 Team Captains

held their first meeting Tuesday at Brian’s in South Hill. The group

is organizing fund raisers and events to benefit the Oct 2 walk at Centennial Park.

They have planned a kick off fundraiser for April 26th in the Movie Gallery

parking lot in South Hill from 10- 2 with fun, games, vendors, inflatables,

informational booths and more to be announced.  Pictured are Tommy Zincone,

Santa Claus for A Cause

The South Hill Junior Woman’s Club presented

their annual Santa Claus for A Cause over the

weekend with a visit from the jolly old elf himself.  The crowd of

 children enjoyed snacks, coloring, music and of course,

the chance to talk to Santa.  Pictured with Santa are the

2007 Little Miss and Mister Pageant and the   

Junior Miss Scholarship pageant winners.

2007 Holiday Bazaar

The 26th annual Holiday Bazaar sponsored by the Friends of the

R. T. Arnold Library was held over the weekend and thousands

turned out over the two days to shop for gifts, handmade items, food, crafts

and more.  Over 100 vendors were on hand with hundreds of varied items

to sell to those looking to get started on their holiday wish list. Lisa Clary Photo

South Hill Shriner's Seafood Festival

   

    

The South Hill shrine Club held its 2nd annual Seafood Festival last week

and over 850 people turned out to enjoy shrimp, fish and other goodies

during the event.  Members of the Shrine and other volunteers worked to keep

the crowd moving in long lines throughout the evening as they served up

RECORD BREAKING MEMORY WALK

 

The South hill Memory Walk 2007 was held last week and they broke records

with number of walkers and money raised to benefit the Alzheimer's Association,. 

The event put 124 walkers on the Move to raise , $18, 467 with more coming in to

make this the biggest walk yet.  Some of the walkers wearing their purple Move shirts posed

BeatleMagic Concert

The South Hill Performing Arts Council kicked off the 2007-2008

season over the weekend with a concert performance by BeatleMagic,

a tribute band to the Beatles. The band had the audience on its feet

at the end of the night at SVCC in Alberta as several hundred people

turned out to relive the magic of the music of George,  Paul, John and Ringo. T

he Council members also had a chance to get a photo op with the group at the

The next SHPAC event will be November 2 at SVCC and will feature Celtic Music

by IONA. Tickets are now on sale for $20 adults and $20 for students. Tickets will also be

available at the door for an additional $5 more so see any of the p

articipating merchants for early ticket purchase.

WELCOME TO SOUTH HILL

WELCOME TO SOUTH HILL and all it has to offer. Local Civic organizations

in the community pooled their resources recently  to install their signs

 featuring their logos, meeting times and locations to offer visitors to the

area  who may be members of these groups in other locations an

 opportunity  to attend meetings in South Hill during their time in the area.

Pinar Smith was the recipient of the Woodman of the World Scholarship

presented by  Mr. Penny Watson with the Club.  Pinar also

received the DAR award presented by the Prestwould Chapter,

national Society Daughters of the American Revolution, The and the Claude W. Wright

Endowment Scholarship  as well as the Robert C. Byrd Honors Scholars

Award by the Virginia Department of Education.
