THE Tractor competition at Farmer's Day Saturday in South Hill

was a tough event for the ten entrants, but winners were decided 

as the tractors were on display in the upper field. Joe Whittemore, 

served as a judge this year following several wins on his tractor in the past.

along with first place winner Kelly Devin, 2nd place-Harvey Lawson

The first ever Pie Baking Contest held during Farmer's Day in South Hill 

last week was a popular event.  The contest had 18 pies entered with

the following winners: Best Tasting-Donald Thompson Nelson,

Best in Show- Kelly Proffitt, Most Creative- Charlotte Clark and

Most Outstanding Sugar Free- Sandi Kidd (with her son Trevor.)
