2007 Park View Graduation

Pinar Smith was the recipient of the Woodman of the World Scholarship

presented by  Mr. Penny Watson with the Club.  Pinar also

received the DAR award presented by the Prestwould Chapter,

national Society Daughters of the American Revolution, The and the Claude W. Wright

Endowment Scholarship  as well as the Robert C. Byrd Honors Scholars

Award by the Virginia Department of Education.

 

 

The South Hill Rotary Club presented nine scholarships this year and five

of them went to students at Park View during Awards day last week. 

Pictured are: Dustin Hall, Amber Sheffield, Pinar Smith, Katherine Moody  and Sean

Bugg and Nick Gesell with the Rotary Club who was the chairman Chairperson this year. 

The Club also presented tow scholarships to students at Brunswick Academy, one at

Kenston Forest and one to a home schooled student for total of nine scholarships for 2007.  

Amber was the recipient of the Gini Nicholson Teacher scholarship and

Dustin received the Jack Olgilvie The Rotary.  

 

 

The South Hill Ruritan club awarded 5 scholarships to deserving students this

year at Park View High School last week.  Pictured are students: Jenea Bennett, Pinar

Smith, Dustin Hall,  Sean Bugg and  Deanna Jenkins with Ruritans

Robert McMillan, Randy Cash and Frank Malone.

 

 

The Leo Allen Award Scholarship was presented to William McCray.

Principal Ben Taylor presented the award last week at awards day.

 

 

Richard Walker with The Mecklenburg Business Education Partnership 

presented scholarships to  Jacob Bower and Dixie Walker.

 

 

The Mecklenburg Electric Cooperative scholarship was presented to

Tabitha Sheppard during awards day at Park View last week.

 

 

Buggs Island Telephone Cooperative presented scholarships during

last weeks Park View Awards Day. winners were Shannon Tolbert, Kristen Harris

and Dixie Walker  pictured with Mickey Sims from the company.

 

 

The American Legion Scholarship winners pictured with  Randy Crocker from 

Post 79 were  Dustin Hall, Katherine Moody and Sean Bugg.

 

 

Winners for the American Legion Post 70 Ladies Auxiliary scholarships

were( not in order and one not pictured., Kristen Harris, Candace

Dawson and Caitlyn . Diane Rogers made the presentations.

 

 

Amber Sheffield was the recipient of the Delta Gamma Society 

for teachers scholarship.  Joan Covington made the presentation.

 

 

Steve Creedle , South Hill Chamber President presented

scholarships to  Pinar Smith and Jacob Bower.

 

 

The Faculty and staff of Buckhorn Elementary established a scholarship

in memory of longtime principal Danny Cameron and presented its first

scholarship to LaNaya Bagley last week at Park View Awards Day. The recipient had to

have been a student at Buckhorn during their school years. 

Mrs. Merlene Cameron and Sabrina Martin made the presentation.

 

 

The recipient of the Link , Inc. Scholarship was Jenea Bennett .

A representative of the club made the presentation.  

Jenea also received the South Hill Junior Woman's Club scholarship

and the  and the Virginia High School League and Farm Bureau Insurance award.

 

 

The Virginia  Retired Teachers Association District D award went to

Deanna Jenkins and was presented by Mrs. Pricilla Walker.

Deanna also received  the Brigham Young University scholarship for

outstanding achievement throughout her high school career.

 

 

These students at Park View have already received  Associate Degrees

from various fields from SVCC in Alberta and were honored  

Park View Awards Day last week.  Lauren Jones-Arts and Science,

Christopher Shelton Arts and Science degree in General Studies,

Dixie Walker- Arts and Science degree in General Studies, 

Kelly Jennings- Arts and Science degree in General Studies,  

Kendall Conner-Career Studies Certificate in High Performance

Technology. Mary Jane Elkins with SVCC presented the medals.
